Originally a private resort, Golf del Sur is now a holiday resort and golf course situated in the south of Tenerife.
It is approximately a 10-12 minute drive from Tenerife South Airport.
As you would imagine, it is a brilliant place to stay if you are a golfer or a novice to the game. It is also a great place to stay for the non golfer too.
A pretty place to visit any time of the year and with Tenerife’s amazing all year round climate, it is a golfer’s paradise in the winter months. Golf del Sur is the perfect place to escape from the winter weather and enjoy a relaxed holiday.
Golf del Sur golf course opened in 1987 and it is the only 27 hole championship golf course in Tenerife.
There are 3 courses at the resort and these are set in a natural park with fantastic views.
The resort caters for the professional golfer and for the beginners and those who want to improve their game, there is also a golf academy. You can have private tuition, or small group tuition. Please note that as Golf del Sur is a championship golf course there is a dress code and we would advise you to check out Golf del Sur’s golf dress code before visiting.
There are other facilities at Golf del Sur, a driving range, putting green, mini golf and tennis courts. There are also buggys to hire to get around the courses.
The golf course is made from volcanic sand bunkers, long colourful fairways, lots of vegetation and palm trees with great views.
It is a peaceful, quiet and relaxing place to stay. Not far from the golf course you will find some great bars and restaurants.
Apart from the obvious, for the golf widow and the family there are also other things to enjoy in the resort.
From the resort why not take a coastal walk along the shoreline down to the Marina de San Miguel. The marina is a relatively new marina situated between the resorts of Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf. From the marina you take diving excursions and fishing trips.
There are places to eat and drink in Golf del Sur but if you prefer to venture a little further you can catch a bus or drive to nearby Los Cristianos or Playa de las Americas.
Los Abrigos
A short walk from Golf del Sur you will find the small harbour and fishing village of Los Abrigos. Tucked away from the main holiday resorts, it still has the feeling of traditional Tenerife.
You will find a variety of seafood and tapas places to eat and drink, some of the restaurants specialising in shellfish. There is also a selection of Canarian food and drink to sample and enjoy.
Los Abrigos has a small beach to relax on and some small local shops.
There is a small market held at Los Abrigos on a Tuesday evening. The market is open from 5.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.
Why not have a lazy day on the beach, a stroll around the market and then something to eat in the harbour at one of the great fish restaurants.
